I Fall To Pieces Patsy Cline

High school in a country song

A new theme for the Covid-quarantine, taken from the card game MIXTAPE, Feel free to play along. I’d love to “hear” your song choices.

Day 1 – MIXTAPE THE GAME – March 23

Play the country song that best describes the totality of your senior year in High School.

I Fall To Pieces

“I Fall To Pieces” by Patsy Cline (tied closely with “She’s Got You” by Patsy). All the drama and heartbreak of unrequited love, love with someone who thinks of you as a friend, who kissed you once and said words that made you think it all meant something, but who ultimately wants to be with someone else (in this case, a boy).

I got over it. I let myself fall for someone new eventually. But for most of my Senior year, I was pining over someone who I could never be with in the way I wished and wanted, and I curated stacks of sad song mixtapes and filled pages of journals with my broken heart.

So Patsy is the one for my Senior Year.

It works in another way, too. The boy I’d end up falling for after was into music like Patsy’s (along with punk, cow-punk, and rockabilly), so it is still kind of “on-brand” for my Senior school year.
