Thursday, Almost-Friday, Friday Junior, Friday Eve, is here at last. I’m so in need of the weekend, of a bit of escape, of fresh air and (hopefully) more sleep. I think I’ve surpassed tired and landed somewhere between over-caffeinated and exhaustion. Music, my current audiobook (“Big Little Lies” by Liana Moriarty), and some TV (“Good Girls”, “Rise”, “Everything Sucks”, and another rewatch of “Gilmore Girls”) have been helping me get through this week. Music especially. My Music Obsessions are my oxygen.
Today’s Top 5 Music Obsessions are a combination of new discoveries and familiars that I love. The 5 Tracks Sound great together as if they were selected for a Playlist. Are you ready to Turn them Up on High and sing-a-long?
Track 1 starts us off with a new Musical Duo, Peter Buck of R.E.M. fame, and lyriquediscorde Favorite, Joseph Arthur. A Music-Savvy friend of mine told me about this Release and I’ve been Obsessing over their Single, “I Am the Moment” since first Listen.
Next up are Daniele Luppi and Parquet Courts Song “Soul and Cigarette”, the first Track off of the 2017 Album, Milano. I heard this Track on this Week’s episode of “Rise” (if you aren’t watching Rise, go now go and check it out). This is a new discovery for me, one I’m definitely obsessing over.
Song 3 is “Trouble” by Girl Ray. I’m digging this recently discovered girl band so much.
“Bad as Me” by Nadia Schilling is Today’s Track 4. I discovered Nadia’s Music, and this Song, back in February and I’ve been loving it ever since. It was time for the Track to make it onto another Top 5 Music Obsession list, that’s for sure.
Last, but not least, is “Sorry Is Gone” by the wonderful Jessica Lea Mayfield. Oh my stars, I love Jessica’s Voice so much. Every time I hear her Sing I want to hear more.
