My Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day :: 3/31/17

Today’s pick of Best Songs for the day, My Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day for the last day of March, for the last Friday of the month, start off with a solo Ian McCulloch song from his 1989 album, Candleland. Number two from My Top 5 is a song from the just-released-today New Goldfrapp Album, Silver Eye. Coming in at number 3 in My Top 5 Music Obsessions is also from a just-released-today New Album, this one from one of my favorite singer-songwriters, Aimee Mann. Junior Parker’s stunning version of “Tomorrow Never Knows” is next, and a new discovery of mine, “Broadripple is Burning” (the Daytrotter Sessions) wraps up Friday’s My Top 5, and there we have it, the start of Friday, and the end of March.

Today’s My Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day’s music starts off with a remastered version of one of my all-time favorite songs by Elliott Smith, available now on the new released Either/Or: Expanded Edition. Next up is one of my all-time favorite songs from Ian McCulloch’s solo from the Bunnymen projects. Goldfrapp’s new single “Ocean” swims beautifuly into Doves’ “Meet Me at the Pier”. And, it all ends (or begins, if you hit replay this week’s playlist full of musical obsessions) with my favorite track off of Laura Marling’s new release, Semper Femina (reviewed here).
