Happy October 2nd. This piece is a redo/revision of a memory of mine, fictionalized to be about two sisters with big imaginations, and a love of horror (and castles made of blankets and 1970's TV trays). It is also inspired by the song "These Are The Ghosts", by The Bees, and this hauntingly gorgeous piece entitled "Storybook" by another of my favorite artists, Kelly Vivanco.

What is your favorite Haunted House Movie? Here's my Top 5...
Sometimes what you need most is a cover song. Though I have to admit, back in 1981 I had no idea that Joan Jett's "Crimson and Clover" was someone else's song first. For me, it was her song that would also become my song, as favorite songs often do. I'd listen to "Crimson and Clover" while lying on my bedroom floor next to my stereo. The song would finish and I'd lift the needle up, return it to the start of the song, and listen to it again ("over and over").

Contemplating the love of music, of song, and consequently an artist, and the broken hearted letdown when something awful is revealed about them. How do you make sense of it? How do I? I give it a shot here - though I've not solved it all yet. I'm not sure I ever will.
Let's start off October's Horror Themed Movie of the Day series with my all-time favorite horror film - Psycho (1960).
Happy October 1st and happy October themed writing. This one is part of a project I'm contemplating - a collection of Flash Fiction stories about women and girls. This one is inspired by both The Psychedelic Furs song "The Ghost In You", and the stunning piece entitled "Atropa Belladonna" by one of my favorite artists, Sarah Joncas.
Anyways, I digress. "(Nice Dreams)", the parenthetical sixth track on The Bends. Are there any other songs that you can think of that are completely in parenthesis? No other one comes to mind. Let's press play and have a listen to it.
