Woke up this morning with music on my mind. I don’t remember any dreams, which may be a good thing. Nightmares have been my sleeping companion of late, and I am ready to ditch her for good – or at least for a few nights of peace.

Movement has been necessary today. Yoga. Pilates. Dancing barefoot in the kitchen. Music in my ears. I have so much on my mind, but for now I just want to shake it all out of me and breathe.

I love the disco feel to Zella Day’s “Golden”. It brings back Sunday nights dancing under a sparkly disco ball to songs from the 70s. I grew up in the age of disco, too, but those years are not always so “golden” to look back on. I’d rather remember those disco dancing nights in Hollywood, in 1988-1990.

The spirit of the music is timeless. This song is from 2022. Many years past the memories the vibes bring into me.

I love how these lyrics feel like a celebration of fluidity. Dancing to whatever it is you feel is you. I can spin and sing to that.

Zella Day has been making music since her teen years. Originally from Arizona, but currently residing in Southern California, she released the album that “Golden” is on – Sunday In Heaven – in October of 2022. I love that the album is a “Sunday” one. Makes my connection to those Sunday 70s nights all the more palpable.
