Happy Thanksgiving Eve! Historically, Thanksgiving has been my least favorite holiday, filled with trauma, drama, and bad memories (especially as a child), but in the past decade, or so, I’ve taken the holiday back. My family, often including chosen family, enjoy a lowkey celebration cooking, eating, listening to music, watching a movie, and playing board games. We do not acknowledge the fables and fiction I was taught as a kid about the day. No celebration to colonization and thievery. But, we do enjoy the time off work and school, and the chance to appreciate each other and share thanks – because honestly, no matter how fucked up things get, we always have something to be thankful for.
