Friday already. This week has flown. It’s been a bit of a rough one, but I’m hanging in. Writing more. Reading more. Listening more.
Here’s some of what I’ve been listening to. Some of what’s been helping me get by.
“I used to be in stereo.
I used to hear and now I donʼt.
Iʼm in mono now forever.
It was there and now itʼs gone.”
So glad to discover new music from Jenny O. I’ve been a fan of her music for awhile now. Something about this song (the music, not the vocals) reminds me of The Brian Jonestown Massacre. And the lyrics remind me of the movie The Sound of Metal, which if you haven’t seen – go now go!

“Won’t you tell me what you’re thinking of?
Would you be an outlaw for my love?”
Oh my stars, I love a good cover song. There are quite a few covers of Big Star’s “Thirteen”. It is one of my all-time favorite songs (especially the lyrics above). Many of the covers are favorites of mine, too. This one definitely gets added to “favorite covers” list.

“Don’t go chasing waterfalls,
please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to.
I know that you’re gonna have it your way or nothing at all,
but I think you’re moving too fast.”
Did I mention I love a good cover song? I also love an unexpected cover, like this one that I just discovered today. Though I prefer the original by TLC, this is a cool and unexpected take on it. I dig it.
It gives the song a different feeling. Give is a dose of melancholy, while still maintaining the pop-catchy chorus.

“I went walking through the graveyard.
With a candle, just a candle to light my way.
Looking for the handle to the doorway.
To take me home, take me away.”
Another song I discovered today. Wow.
I’ve always enjoyed Wax Tailor, and I’ve loved Mark Lanegan’s music for a long time, so hearing them together is an aural treat, for sure.
I love new music Friday’s. I love discovering new music/new songs.

And one more discovery from today, this dreamy poppy indie song that I can’t get enough of. I love how movie soundtrack cinematic it sounds. It’s just a little over a minute long, and has no lyrics, but its hitting me in all the right places today.
It would be a cool start/intro to a playlist. Hmmm….
