Debbie Harry, one of my all-time favorites, is celebrating 75 years on this planet today. Her music has meant so much to me throughout my life I just had to celebrate her day with a Playlist.
My first 45″ was a Blondie song. “Call Me”. I bought it at Montgomery Ward, a department store that was walking distance from my house. I paid for it myself, from babysitting money. A few weeks later I went to the Record Trading Center (a favorite local record store of my mom and me) and bought the album Parallel Lines. It was the 80’s, not 1978 when the album originally out, but it was sparkly-new to me.
A few years to my purchases, I’d seen Blondie play live on Saturday Night Live. They performed “Dreaming”.
That started my Love of Debbie Harry and Blondie, one that has never left me.
In the late ’80s/Early 90’s I frequented Underground Hollywood Clubs that Spun Blondie’s Music heavily, especially Club 1970 and Hot Lave. And, my first car, had at least two Blondie Cassettes in rotation for Car-Concert Play, at all times.
