Monday is here again, and though I’m dealing with some unwanted shoulder pain, and am a bit too tired, I’m still feeling the effects of a really good weekend. I’m smiling through the pain, which is helping me get through an extra large to-do list today. Music and coffee are helping, too, of course, but mostly its the good feelings from the weekend that are still with me. I feel like we’ve turned another corner in our relationship, figuring out some things, working through some others, and getting even closer. I forget sometimes how new we are, how much we are still getting to know each other. But, when I remember, I’m grateful to have so much to still learn, and I’m thankful, too, that we seem to be working through everything together, even rough things.
Its been a long time since I’ve listened to Zooey and M. Ward’s dueting – She and Him. I was thinking about them on my way to work, and when I went to look them up I was happily surprised to find a new track that came out this year. One I’ve never heard before. It fits right in with how I’m feeling right now. Lyrically. I’m also really fond of the Spanish guitar sounds in the background.
“He Gives His Love To Me” is She and Him’s contribution to MGM Resorts’ Universal Love project. There is an alternate version of the song, too. “She Gives Her Love To Me”. The project was launched earlier in the year, and features artists such as Bob Dylan and St. Vincent covering classic love songs with flipped genders in an effort to be more inclusive for the LGBTQ community.
She and Him decided to write their own song, and record it in two different ways for the project.
