Today is EP bliss for me. Not only did Pete Yorn release his EP with Scarlett Johansson, but the dream-pop queen Hope Sandoval has a new EP with Mazzy Star out today. Thank you New Music Friday for making things so much better for me.

Still is the new Mazzy Star EP, and “That Way Again” is dream pop meets twang goodness that I want to drive out to the desert listening to. This is a roadside diner, abandoned waterpark, long desert drive to Vegas music. This is getting yourself lost for a bit in Joshua Tree music. Now I’m inspired to plan that desert road trip — finally.

Wow. Those lyrics just tore through my skin and into my heart. But, something in it isn’t making me cry. No, it’s making me feel strong again.

Do you hear the dream pop in this song? Can you hear the blues? The twang? The desert in the background? That last bit may just be what I hear when I close my eyes and let the music wash over me.
