Tuesday is warm weather and clear skies outside, but hazy grey tired inside of me. Insomnia had me in its grips last night. It was anxiety fueled and took a lot of time to try to work through. Hopefully, tonight will be full of more peaceful sleep. I could use it. In the meantime its coffee and hot tea and today’s Top 5 Music Obsessions getting me through.
Today’s first Track is the Song I had running through my mind all morning. Especially the lyric “I’m so tired. I wish I was the moon tonight.” Neko Case’s “I Wish I Was the Moon” is really speaking/singing to me today.
Next up is Jolie Holland’s “Old Fashioned Morphine”. Jolie is a Voice I’d forgotten about until I re-discovered her on my re-discovered Favorite Lyric site, Always On the Run. I can’t recommend this site enough for discovering/re-discovering fantastic Music. I love the take on “Old Time Religion” that the Chorus of this Song plays at.
Song 3 is “Over Everything”, a Duet from Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile. They remind of a Juliana Hatfield and Evan Dando for the 2000’s.
“My Blood” by Ellie Goulding changes course with a little ethereal Dance sound. I’d forgotten this Song completely until I stumbled on it amongst a Playlist of Songs I curated for the character Remy from a Novel-In-Progress I’m working on called “In-Between Days”.
Last, but not least, is a Song from Lloyd Cole And The Commotions that I often forget about, but love every, single time I hear it – “Down On Mission Street”. It is definitely in my Top 5 Lloyd Cole Songs list.
