Happy Valentine’s Day, if you partake. I know its a mixed feeling, polarizing holiday, and for years I fought against its acknowledgment. But, this year its hard to fight because this is my second with someone I love, and how can we not celebrate that? That said, I’m cognizant of the mixed feelings and the loneliness this day can shine an over-bright light on. So, do you. If you feel it, celebrate. If you don’t, fuck it. Celebrate you. Either way, let’s Turn up the Music and enjoy a set of Top 5 Music Obsessions for the day.
Song 1 is by one of my all-time favorite Musicians and Songwriters, Pete Yorn. “For Nancy (‘Cos It Already Is)” was one of my first love Songs of his. Next up is “Never My Love” by The Association, one of my favorite Love Songs (and also a Song that Pete Yorn covered). “Northern Highway’ by Martin Courtney is my New Discovery of the day from Spotify Discover Weekly. Song 4 is “Goodnight Elisabeth” by the Counting Crows, a Song that I forget how much I adore until I hear it again, and then, every time, I have to repeat it at least three or four times. Last, but not least is Rilo Kiley with “Silver Lining”, a Track that fits perfectly in a Valentine’s/Anti-Valentine’s Playlist – like this one I made in 2016.
