Monday rolls in with the remnants of rain from the night before, and the bluest of blue skies, the kind with scatterings of cartoon white puffy clouds. Even through big dark sunglasses, I can see the breathtaking blue of it. The sun’s impact. The way the morning is giving the grandest of good mornings, and I say it back. The Music is up loud, and the first Song on Today’s Top 5 Music Obsessions is one that I keep hitting repeat on. It fits the morning, the bluest of blue skies, the way I’m feeling today.
Song 1 is “Whitechapel” by S.C.U.M., the first Track, as well, on this week’s Spotify Discovery Weekly. I’ve never heard it before today. I can’t get enough of it. Repeat. Repeat Repeat. I’m sad to see the Band seems to have split up. Regardless, this Song is a brilliant discovery and set the tone for the Songs I’d obsess over today. Next up is Ride’s “Dream Burn Down”. Some shoegaze seems so fitting today. I can feel myself swirling about in it. “This Is Hardcore” by Pulp is Track 3. This Song immediately reminds me of James, a character in the book I’m back to working on. I think I need to add it to his character Playlist. The Verve’s “History” is up next. This Song, and Verve itself, always reminds me of living in Chicago. I don’t know why. Chapterhouse’s “Pearl” is the “last, but not least” Song. This one I keep hitting Repeat on to. Towards the end, it sounds like Siouxsie And The Banshees’ “Kiss Them For Me” kicks in. Do you hear it, too?
I have to say, this just might be the best Top 5 Music Obsession set of Songs on a Monday I’ve ever assembled. I hope you enjoy it, too.
I’d love to hear what you are hearing, and obsessing over today. Please share in the comments below.

Awesome five songs. Can’t go wrong with some Ride and Chapterhouse.
Both are so good!
