Wednesdays are the best, and even though my insomnia persists, and I’m a bit weary from it, I’m still glad to meet up with Wednesday again. Midweek Top 5’s tend to be a bit more on the soothing side. I’m not sure why, but its something I’ve noticed recently. Perhaps its a need for a bit calmer and care after so many work projects, to-do lists, and challenges that the start of the week gives us. Or, maybe its the flow of the week, much like the flow in a Playlist, the rise and fall of energy, sound, and style. Whatever the reason, Wednesdays are usually in need of a deeper breath, and a softer style set of Songs.
Song 1 is from Charlotte Gainsbourg. “Heaven Can Wait” is a rediscovery via Spotify Discover Weekly. Its been a while since I listened to the 2009 Album, IRM. The Stone Poney’s Iconis Hit “Different Drum” is up next. I just love Linda Ronstadt’s voice. Funny note, I’ve been told I look like Linda at least a half a dozen times at different times in my life. I don’t really see it, but do we ever see those kinds of comparisons that others see? New Order’s “Ceremony” is Track 3, one my all-time Favorite New Order Songs. “You Can Make Me Feel Bad” by Phosphorescent is the Song I woke up with this morning. It’s been spinning in my head ever since, so I had to play it, and add it to the Top 5. Last, but not least, is “Wait” by Alexi Murdoch. My Favorite of his Songs. My younger daughter had it in a Mix she was playing in my car last night and we both Sang-A-Long to it. It was a lovely moment between us. It actually made me tear up, not that I let her see. If I had she would have stopped Singing, and felt awkward, and possibly embarrassed. Being a teenager is tough. Being the Mom of one is tough, too.
