Wednesday is here again, my favorite of the “school night” days-of-the-week. Maybe its partially because it is a halfway mark of a week, not quite as sweet as the start, where you can begin things for the first time, or again. But, it is the middle point, and in some ways, that’s a place to start over or make a start. Though, one would argue any day is the day to be starting something. Right now I’m starting another Top 5 Music Obsessions set of Songs. Are you ready for them?
One of my favorite Singer/Songwriters is Jenny Lewis. Whether with her band Rilo Kiley, her side-project Nice As Fuck, or her solo work, I’m always into the Music she makes. She’s another artist who writes about Los Angeles, and she does so in a way that feels familiar and real to me. She writes about LA in a way I can relate to. So, Song 1 is a Jenny Lewis Song. Next up is another New Discovery from Spotify’s compiled-for-me “Discover Weekly” Playlist. They are really on a roll this week. I’ve found so many Songs and Artists that I’m really digging (and obsessing over). For today I’m discovering, and obsessing over Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever’s Track, “French Press”, and that’s why its Today’s Track 2. Song 3 for today is “Do You” by Spoon, which immediately had me thinking of “Hang On To Your Ego” by The Beach Boys, so I just had to put them side-by-side. Last, but not least, is a Song I heard in a Movie I just watched yesterday and today at lunch. The Song is “Khala My Friend”, and it was on the Soundtrack to the Netflix Original Movie, The Incredible Jessica James. The Song really stood out to me when I was watching the Film.
So, are you ready for this Today’s Top 5? What Songs would you add to Today’s list?
