“Friday Junior”, as one of my coworkers likes to call it, is upon us, and so is a new day of Top 5 Music Obsessions. Thursdays do feel a bit special, don’t they? So close to the weekend you can almost taste it. Maybe that’s why I was craving a very Summery, time off, lay back, relax, and let the Music wash over you kind of 5 Songs today.
Today’s 5 starts off with a very Dream-Pop/Shoegaze/Ready-made-for-Summer Song from Beach House (geez, even their name sounds like Summer). “The Hours” intro reminds me of The Beatles Song “Because”, so it seemed fitting that it would be the next Track. Then we are on to The Monkees, and the very Dreamy Theme from their odd and unusual Film, Head – have you ever seen it? alt-J’s Song “Breezeblocks” is up next. I can’t ever hear this Song without thinking about my daughter singing it acoustically while teaching herself to play guitar. Last, but never least, is the Cocteau Twins, the epitome of Dreamy and Summery, with their Song “Cherry-coloured Funk. As I type this out and have the Song playing, I’m reminded that I really should have included Cocteau Twins in my Top 20 Bands list.
Are you ready for this Thursday’s Top 5? What Songs would you add to Today’s list?
