Tuesday breezes by. Some days are like that, they blow quickly, yet gently, by with little stress or issue. Thoughts flow, ideas and conversation. Yet sometimes on days like this, it feels like there isn’t enough time. I’d like a few more hours to listen to music, to write more, to read a few more chapters of the book I’m reading, and a little more time to take a long, slow walk before the sun goes down. Maybe I’ll be able to steal some extra moments for some of that. Like right now, with these 5 Music Obsessions of the Day.
The first song is a Lou Reed standard. “Perfect Day” is one of those songs that can sometimes soar with joy inside of me, and at other times can move me to tears. There’s never a time I hear it where it doesn’t elicit some kind of emotion. Passenger’s “Things That Stop You Dreaming” is up next. I’d all but forgotten this song until I decided to pick a random playlist from the past and give it a listen while I worked on some client analysis. It’s beautiful, and I’ve hit repeat on it at least 5 times (so far) today. Track 3 is one of my two favorite songs by The Kinks. “Waterloo Sunset” paints such a vivid picture of a life that I feel like I can see all of it, and that I know the people who live within the song’s story. Next is “There Goes the Fear” by Doves, a song, and band I am still discovering. ANd last, but definitely not least, is my forever favorite song by one of my forever favorite singers, Sam Cooke and “Bring It On Home to Me”.
