The first Monday of October is upon us, as is an eclectic set of songs for today’s Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day. Today I am trying to push through the heaviness of the news and the chest cold that has decided to take me in. I need to keep going, and singing-a-long helps with that. Music is the best medicine out there, and today is one of those Monday’s that certainly need that kind of healing.
Song # 1 is a tune that was originally penned by David Bowie, but given to Mott The Hoople to record. It would become their biggest hit. “All the Young Dudes” never ceases to make me smile. Next up is one of my favorite The The songs, “This Is the Day”. It is also a song that brings a smile to my face, and singing-a-long to my lips. The first song I ever heard from Lucius is today’s Track # 3. “Two of Us on the Run” makes me long for a road trip, the kind where you intentionally go out and get lost. It is also a song I was obsessing over this time last year. A year later and it still does it for me. An interesting cover song that I just discovered today is up next. Camera Obscura’s take on ABBA’s hit “Super Trouper” is unexpected, moody, and delightful. The last song of today’s Top 5 is St. Vincent’s “What Me Worry” that seemed the best sentiment for getting through today.
