Happy Wednesday everyone! One of my favorite days of the week has an especially special sounding Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day. Today’s mix is filled with new songs and classic songs. All of them filled with emotion and feeling and a sense of sonic comfort and ease that feels just about right for this middle-of-the-week time. I recommend you turn all 5 of theses songs UP and hope you enjoy all of them.
Song 1 is my favorite track off of Laura Marling’s recent album, Semper Femina. “Nothing, Not Really” has so much emotional complexity to it and so much story. Hem’s cover of The Rolling Stones’ hit, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” is up next. Oh, my stars how I love cover songs! My absolute favorite song by The Velvet Underground, “Oh! Sweet Nuthin'” is song 3, and is the song I woke up with in my head this morning. A favorite song of mine since I was a little girl comes in next – Elton John’s “Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going To Be a Long, Long Time)”. The Kinks “Sunny Afternoon” wraps up this wonderful Wednesday Top 5 Music Obsessions list, a song that just feels like right now today.
