Friday is finally here and today’s Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day is also here, all ready to help us celebrate with 5 amazing songs by women in music. It is Female Friday after all. These 5 artists were inspired by Female Friday, as well as by the song I woke up with (track 1 of the 5). I heard it spinning so much in my head this morning that I had to play it on repeat, about 6 or 7 times, during my morning commute. That is definitely grounds for a Music Obsession, don’t you think?

Track 1 is from Sharon Van Etten. It is the song “One Day”, which I woke with in my head. It is off her album Epic, whose name is quite fitting. Next up is Jenny Lewis with the title track for her album, The Voyager. This was one of my favorite songs she performed when I saw her live two years ago. “Is This How You Feel” by The Preatures is up next. This is a new discovery for me, and is definitely, without a doubt, the TURN UP LOUD song from this mix. “P Plates” by Ruby Fields is another new discovery. I’m pretty sure you will want to hit repeat a few times on this one. I know I did. Karen O and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs end it all for us with “Zero”, quite possibly my all-time favorite song of theirs.
