Wednesday is here again, that magical mid-point that is one of my personal favorite days of the week. Although Wednesday sort of feels like a Tuesday, that could be a good thing when you realize we are that much closer to the weekend. Heat waves and hurricanes are impacting some of us, as are other personal challenges, but right here, right now, here are 5 songs that are meant for obsessing over. So, go on and TURN UP the volume, and let’s get to that weekend ahead.
Song 1 is a newly discovered David Bowie cover of the song “Modern Love” by also newly discovered, Kevin Johansen. Next up is a favorite of mine, “Oblivious” by Aztec Camera. I vividly remember the day I bought my cassette of Aztec Camera’s High Land, Hard Rain. Nouvelle Vague are cover song royalty. There are SO MANY songs they’ve taken on that I love. Today’s cover track is their version of New Order’s “Blue Monday”. The 4th song in is Hooverphonic’s “Mad About You” a new music-obsession of mine (it’s been months of obsessing and I still want to hear it more). Last, but definitely not least, is Flunk’s “Spring to Kingdom Come” – a “Top 5 Music Obsession” repeater.
