Friday’s Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day are a 5-song celebration of Female Friday and the 1st day of September. The songs are also spirited and veer into “feel good” as many of us make our way into a 3-day bank holiday. Storms and heatwaves and long weekends, bring it on early September and the soon-to-be-arriving Fall, we can press play together and push ourselves forward.
The Bangles ring in the start of today’s Top 5, as well as the start of September, with their catchy cover of Big Star’s “September Gurls”. Next up is a new track from Daughter (it is New Release Friday, after all). “All I Ever Wanted” is one of my first listen favorites from their newly released album, Music From Before the Storm. Song 3 is “Magnetized” by Garbage, a track off their recent album Strange Little Birds. This track is one of those songs that I cannot get enough of lately. Blondie is up next, with my all-time best Blondie song, “Atomic”. Courtney Love and Hole bring it all together with “Celebrity Skin”, a favorite title track song of mine. I think I hit repeat about 5 times already this morning…for this entire Top 5.
