TOP 5 MUSIC OBSESSIONS OF THE DAY:
1. “Sing” by Travis
“The love you bring,
won’t mean a thing,
unless you sing, sing, sing, sing.”
Definitely in the Top 5 Best Travis Songs, “Sing” is the lead single from Travis’ 3rd studio album, The Invisible Band. Released in May of 2001. “Sing” reached a peak position of # 3 on the UK Singles Chart. It became a worldwide success, reaching Top 10 in several countries in Europe and Latin America.
The Song can be heard in The Office on various occasions as the unofficial Song of Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly. The Song is noted for its use of banjo which was considered rare for mainstream Music.
2. “Alone” by The Cry
“Have you ever sat on an empty beach,
with the sun and the stars and the sea so deep,
and ask your self again,
is this for me?”
A Lyriquediscorde new discovery Band and Song. We can’t get enough of it…hopefully, you won’t be able to, either.
3. “Summertime” by The Sundays
“And it’s you and me in the summertime,
we’ll be hand in hand down in the park,
with a squeeze and a sigh and that twinkle in your eye,
and all the sunshine banishes the dark.”
This Song feels so 90’s that I find myself wanting to break out my crushed velvet, babydoll dress and granny/witchy lace up boots. It also makes us want to make a few Summertime Themed Playlists, and to revisit the ones from year’s past, too.
4. “Love” by Lana Del Rey
“You get ready,
you get all dressed up,
to go nowhere in particular.
Back to work,
or the coffee shop,
Doesn’t matter ’cause it’s enough,
to be young and in love.”
“Love” was Released in February of 2017 through Polydor and Interscope Records, as the Lead Single from her 5th Studio Album, Lust For Life. It was Written and Produced by Del Rey, Benny Blanco, Emile Haynie, and Rick Nowels, with additional production by Kieron Menzies.
It’s early promotion pre-Release was teased with Posters hung in Los Angeles on February 17, though they had to push up the Release Date from what was originally planned due to early leaks of the Song online.
The Song debuted at # 44 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it her highest Charting Song on the Chart since Ultraviolence’s Lead Single, “West Coast”. It also debuted at # 2 on Hot Rock Songs, exceeding the # 3 peak of “Young and Beautiful”, in 2013. “Love” also launched as her first No. 1 on Rock Digital Song Sales (46,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen Music) and at No. 5 on Rock Streaming Songs (6.6 million domestic streams). The song also peaked at No. 9 on the Digital Songs chart.
5. “Koop Island Blues” by Koop and Ane Brun
“The truth is,
we were much too young,
now I’m looking for you,
or anyone like you.”
This Track is the Earworm of the Mix. We Love how it feels both of the Carribean and also of Paris, France,
Doesn’t this make you want to Dance and Sway?
We hope you enjoy this Tuesday’s Edition of the Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day, and that you Press Play and Turn Up these Tunes from Travis, The Cry, The Sundays, Lana Del Rey, and Koop with Ane Brun – and Enjoy!
