TOP 5 MUSIC OBSESSIONS OF THE DAY:
1. “Is That All There Is?” by Peggy Lee
“Is that all there is?
Is that all there is?
If that’s all there is my friends,
then let’s keep dancing.
Let’s break out the booze,
and have a ball.
If that’s all there is.”
Written by American Songwriting team Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller during the 1960s, “Is That All There Is?” became a hit for American singer Peggy Lee and an award winner from her album of the same title in November 1969.
We love the Cabaret feel to the Song, the dark humor to it, as well as the on-the-street philosophy of life. We believe in the “let’s keep dancing” motto here, too – along with just keep Turning the Music Up!
2. “All Mixed Up” by Red House Painters
“She tricks me into thinkin’,
I can’t believe my eyes.
I wait for her forever,
but she never does arrive.”
Off of a Favorite Red House Painters Album, “All Mixed Up” is Melancholic goodness with a touch of Power Pop Guitar that just fits today so well – don’t you think?
3. “Tell Me” by Johnny Jewel, Featuring Saorise Ronan
“Tell me I’m your baby,
and you’ll never leave me.
Tell me that you’ll kiss me,
forever.”
We are Fans of the recent TV Series Riverdale here at Lyriquediscorde, loving the darker take on the Archie Comics characters with its Twin Peaks undertones, Small Town Drama, well-crafted and unusual characters, and some fantastic Music to Soundtrack it, too. This Track, taken from the Pilot, is Stunning. Cool to hear Saoirse Ronan, a Favorite Actor of ours, too, Singing in this.
4. “(Feels Like) Heaven) by Fiction Factory
“Heaven is closer now today.
The sound is in my ears.
I can’t believe the things you say.
they echo what I fear.”
A recent 80’s discovery that somehow passed us by that we are Loving (and Obsessing over).
5. “Fade Into You” by Mazzy Star
“I look to you and I see nothing.
I look to you to see the truth.”
Not the First time (or Second) that “Fade Into You” made it into the Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day Mix, and certainly not the last.
Sometimes you just need to hear this one!
We hope you enjoy this Wednesday’s Edition of the Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day, and that you Press Play and Turn Up these Tunes from Peggy Lee, Red House Painters, Johnny Jewel and Saoirse Ronan, Fiction Factory, and Mazzy Star – and Enjoy!
