Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day :: 6/19/17

Monday is here again, as is Today’s Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day, to help balance out the stress and strain of Monday with some songs and sounds. This Monday’s Top 5 is made up of 5 Feel Good Songs, mostly from the Britpop side of things. The weather is warming up, the days are longer, and Today’s Top 5 seems to fit it all. So, settle in, throw headphones in each ear, or adjust your speakers to Turned Up levels, and enjoy Monday’s Edition of the Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day.

Song 1 is from The Charlatans UK’s Album Wonderland. The Song “A Man Needs To Be Told” was the First Song I heard this morning, and it truly started this entire Top 5 off. Next up is “Slide Away” from Oasis’ Quintessential Album, Definitely Maybe. “Dakota”, from Stereophonics, comes in at # 3, which leads perfectly into the Delays with one of their Best Songs, “Nearer Than Heaven”. “There She Goes”, from The La’s, ties it all up at # 5, a Song that just feels like the start of something, don’t you think?

Come on Monday, give us whatever you have got to give, we are ready with 5 Best Songs to get us through. The Charlatans, Top 5, Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day

1. “A Man Needs to be Told” :: The Charlatans UK

A man needs to be told,
to look in to the light.
He will get lost in the day.
He will get lost in the night.”

The First Song I heard today reminded me of how much I love this Album (Wonderland) from The Charlatans UK, and how it is time for a Deep Re-listen of it. The Sun is warm as it streams through my office window, and Summer has definitely arrived. The breezy Sound to this Song, and the contemplative Lyrics, start this Mix up so perfectly for today. Thank you, First Song of the Day.

2. “Slide Away” :: Oasis

“I dream of you,
and all the things you say.
I wonder where you are now?”

This Song seemed the Perfect choice to follow The Charlatans UK. Sticking in the Britpop circle, a Deeper Track off of Oasis’ Quintessential Album, Definitely Maybe, came to mind and I’ve Pressed Play a few times already on this one. We hope you do, too.

3. “Dakota” :: Stereophonics

“Thinking back,
thinking of you.
think it was June.
Yeah think it was June.”

By far our Favorite Stereophonics Song here at lyriquediscorde. And one of the Best Songs about June.

4. “Nearer Than Heaven” :: Delays

“You are nearer than heaven.
I get the feeling,
I get nearer by the day.”

By far this Track is the Most Feel Good in Today’s Mix. I am immediately transported to the early Aughts, and a Mix CD a good friend gave me which was the first time I heard this Song. I’ve Loved it ever since, and always seem to reach for it when Summer returns.

5. “There She Goes” :: The La’s

“There she goes.
There she goes again.
Racing through my brain,
and I just can’t contain,
This feelin’ that remains.”

We wrote about this one for one of the Britpop Tuesday Features. One of the Most Beautiful Songs supposedly about Heroin. This one will always remind me of the First moments in the Pilot to “Gilmore Girls”.

The La's, Top 5, Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day
