Happy Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day Wednesday Listeners, we hope you are getting yourself ready to Press Play and Turn the Volume Up. We have an Eclectic Mix of Top 5 Songs to share with you today that we think you will enjoy. Are you ready?
Song 1 is a Track from John Maus (pictured below), of Panda Bear and Ariel Pink, Solo Album, We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves. The Track is called “Hey Moon” and it is Lulling and Delicate, and works as Great as a transition to Cat Power’s Keen Cover of the Epic Song, “New York”. The Amps take over Song 3 with “Pacer”, which seems made to go right into The Breeders’ “Drivin’ On 9” (my favorite Breeders Song, by the way). The Jam (pictured below) ties it all-together with “London Traffic”, ending the Top 5 today with some Weller, which make sense since it is “Weller Wednesday” (stay tuned).
So, are you all ready for Wednesday’s Top 5? We certainly hope so. Oh, and don’t you worry if you missed a day of Music this week, you can always catch-up throughout the week through those Links above. Each Day’s Songs are added to the Spotify and YouTube Playlists for the Week, put together with Care and Music Obsession, for your Listening, and Music Obsessing, Pleasure.
TOP 5 MUSIC OBSESSIONS OF THE DAY:
1. “Hey Moon” :: John Maus
“Hey moon,
it’s just you and me tonight,
everyone else is asleep.”
This Song feels like an Ode to Insomnia, and the relationship with the night one forges when you are in the throes of it, that sleepless visitor that can come without warning. I know I have held vigil with the Moon, and the still of the middle of the night, all too often.
2. “New York” :: Cat Power
“These vagabond shoes,
are longing to stray,
right through the very heart of it –
New York, New York.”
Songs about Cities are a Favorite of mine, as our Cover Songs. This is the Best of Both Musical worlds.
3. “Pacer” :: The Amps
“Now I like to get loud.
I like to go to the other side.
Just to think, you were just passin’ by.”
The first line of the Song suggests it, so go on and Turn this Song Up to Loud.
4. “Drivin’ On 9” :: The Breeders
“Drivin’ on 9.
I sure miss you.
Pass a motel.
Looking in the blinds.”
The Quintessential Road Trip Song. Oh my stars, how I Love this one. “Drivin’ on 9” has made it on to so many Music Mixes and Playlists I have made, and I’m sure it will be a part of many, many more.
5. “London Traffic” :: The Jam
“Drive ’round London in a car,
don’t really want to go far.
So many cars fill the streets.
Wonder why we bother at all.”
The Perfect Song to Turn Up Loud when driving in Los Angeles traffic. Also, the Perfect Song for Today, Weller Wednesday. Yes, Weller, I wonder why we bother at all every morning when I’m stuck on the 101. And while I’m wondering, I Turn this Track Way Up.
So, there it goes and there we have it – This Week’s Eclectic Wednesday Mix of Top 5 Music Obsessions, Featuring John Maus, Cat Power, The Amps, The Breeders, and The Jam. Hope you all Pressed Play and Turned that Volume Way Up, and Enjoyed Today’s 5 Songs.
