TOP 5 MUSIC OBSESSIONS OF THE DAY:
1. “Can the Can” :: Suzi Quatro
“So, make a stand for your man,
try to can the can.“
This Song is Fantastic, and really, really needs to be Turned Up Loudly. I’m not completely sure what “can the can” refers to, but it doesn’t even matter, because the energy, the rock of it, the punch of emotions, makes it all somehow make sense. I wish Suzi had done a duet with Marc Bolan – I’m just picturing it in my head, and so want to hear it.
2. “I Must be Mad” :: The Craig
“I can’t make out,
the way you feel,
If you don’t love me,
set me free.
I can’t help myself,
for the way I feel,
for my love is real,
for the way I feel about you.“
My boyfriend sent this Song to me earlier today and I haven’t been able to stop Listening since, which makes it a Must Have for Today’s Top 5 Music Obsessions, don’t you think?
3. “Come On/Let’s Go” :: Paul Weller
“Hanging round the corners,
shouting at the top of your voice.
Sing you little fuckers,
sing like you got no choice.”
This Song was what brought to mind a Friday Music Theme of “Music About Music” when I heard it this morning on my commute into work.
4. “Who are You?” :: The Who
“I staggered back to the underground,
and the breeze blew back my hair.
I remember throwin’ punches around,
and preachin’ from my chair.”
I Love the “Day in the Life” feel to this Song. A similar thing I Love about Paul Weller’s Songwriting, too. I’m sure that there is some inspiration here, from The Who to Weller, most definitely.
5. “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” :: Bachman-Turner Overdrive
“I met a devil woman,
she took my heart away.
I’ve had it comin’ to me.
But, I wanted it that way.”
Oh my stars, this Song so Feels like a Friday to me. Turn it Up and Listen. Doesn’t it feel like a Friday?
