TOP 5 MUSIC OBSESSIONS OF THE DAY:

1. “She Sells Sanctuary” :: The Cult

The sparkle in your eyes,
keeps me alive.

This Song always reminds me of my first car, that little Honda hatchback that tended to overheat often, and held so many memories within. I remember having the Love Album in my car, a Must Have for road trips, short and long. I would pop it in and Turn Up the Volume as Loud as it would go, always Singing-a-Long.

2. “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” :: The Police

Do I have to tell the story,
of a thousand rainy days,
since we first met?
It’s a big enough umbrella,
but it’s always me that ends up getting wet.”

I thought of this Song the minute I walked outside to go to my car this morning. The rain was coming down, sprinkles of water, but consistent, and I left my umbrella, and raincoat behind. It was kind of fun though, droplets of rain dancing on my hair and skin, and this Classic Police Song singing in my head.

3. “Goodbye Girl” :: Squeeze

Sunlight on the lino,
waking me with a shake.
I looked around to find her,
but she’d gone.”

No matter how melancholic the Lyrics are, Squeeze Songs always feel so Happy, and Upbeat. I Dig the juxtaposition of moods, and how it sneaks in while you Listen.

4. “June” :: Pete Yorn

It’s alright if I was older,
it’s ok to lose your age.
And I,
want to follow you,
I do,
I do.”

It wouldn’t be the First Day of June without hearing “June”, now would it?

5. “It’s All over Now, Baby Blue” :: Bob Dylan

Strike another match,
go start anew.
And it’s all over now,
baby blue.”

One of my All-Time Favorite Songs, and one of my All-Time Favorite Lyrics right there. The entire Song, and all the Lyrics, really. This Song is such a Perfect example of what an Amazing Singer-Songwriter Dylan is.
