TOP 5 MUSIC OBSESSIONS OF THE DAY :: 5/18/17
Thursday’s Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day are a Collection of Best Songs that seem to Flow perfectly, one into the other, swirling around this “Friday Eve” with Melodies and Harmonies worthy of a Sing-A-Long, and Turned Up Volume. This Top 5 is queued up and ready to get us to Friday, and on to the Weekend ahead. Which of the 5 will you Sing-A-Long to? Which will you Turn Up Louder? Which might you Push Replay, and Listen again to?
Song 1 is the Huge Hit “Wonderwall” from Oasis’ (pictured below) Quintessential Album, [What’s the Story] Morning Glory. Next up is a Song I heard Live last night while my boyfriend and I watched an older Paul Weller concert. “Foot of the Mountain” was the Song I took away from, a Song that Lyrically moved me in a way that Weller seems to do so effortlessly. Song 3 in the Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day comes from The Dream Syndicate, bringing us a Song I’d forgotten about until I ran across it in a Spotify Discovery Playlist. My Favorite Rogue Wave Song is up next, followed up by Echo And The Bunnymen’s (pictured below) Fantastic Track, “The Killing Moon”, which I was reminded of this morning when it was mentioned in a Novel I am reading (Tell the Wolves I’m Home, by Carol Rifka Brunt.

TOP 5 MUSIC OBSESSIONS OF THE DAY:
1. “Wonderwall” :: Oasis
“I don’t believe that anybody,
feels the way I do,
about you now.”
Before I got over a distaste for Oasis (who are now one of my Favorite Bands) I came across the Song “Wonderwall” when Ryan Adams covered it. I could not deny the songwriting and the sheer beauty of this somewhat unorthodox Love Song. I would later here the Song referenced in a Song by the Band Travis, who asked, Lyrically, “What’s a Wonderwall anyway?” I never heard an answer, and I still don’t know what a Wonderwall is, but I do know that I Love the Song, and it is one of my Favorite Love Songs of All-Time.
2. “Foot of the Mountain” :: Paul Weller
“Like mercury gliding,
a silver teardrop that falls.
And, I will never hold her.
Through my fingers,
I heard this Song for the first time last night. It is so Beautiful. Breathtaking, really – especially this Acoustic Version.
3. “Tell Me When It’s Over” :: The Dream Syndicate
“And I really don’t know,
cause I don’t wanna know.
Yeah, tell me when it’s over.
Tell me when it’s over.
Oh, let me know when it’s done.”
As I mentioned above, I ran across this Song within a Spotify Discovery Playlist this morning. It made me remember this Band. I’d forgotten about them. I Love when I can re-discover/re-remember a Band or Artist I once Enjoyed.
4. “Eyes” :: Rogue Wave
“Over pushing myself,
to finish this part.
I can handle a lot,
but one thing I’m missing,
is in your eyes.”
I’m sure we’ve Featured this Song in a past Top 5 before, maybe even more than once. I Love this Song so very much. It is Perfect in its Simplicity. I just honestly can never get enough of it.
5. “The Killing Moon” :: Echo & The Bunnymen
“Under a blue moon I saw you.
you’ll take me.
Up in your arms,
too late to beg you,
or cancel it,
though I know it must be,
the killing time –
This Song always always always gives me Chills. I was reminded of it this morning while listening to an Audiobook of the Novel, Tell the Wolves I’m Home, by Carol Rifka Brun. It fit the scene so perfectly. I just had to stop, pause the Story, and Play the Song.
