Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day :: 5/9/17
Tuesday’s Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day is full of some of the Best Music Around. There is a Spring feel to Today’s Top 5. A feeling of Love and warmer weather, despite the look of possible rain in Los Angeles today. These 5 are Full of Feel Good Vibes that will help fill this Tuesday up with Melodies, Harmonies, and Sonic Smiles. You know what to do…Turn Up that Volume and if you feel it, Sing-A-Long with Today’s Top 5 Music Obsessions.
Song 1 comes from a lyriquediscorde Favorite Artist, one that I will be reviewing a Live Show of tonight at the Constellation Room, in Santa Ana. Pete Yorn’s (pictured below) “Roses” starts us off with an ode to Falling in Love in Los Angeles. Next up is Coconut Records Song about the West Coast, and returning home. This one is the Melancholic Tune of the bunch, but there is still a feeling of hope weaved in there somewhere, if you Listen close. Track 3 is a Song by The Lucksmiths that I happened upon this morning and have been Playing on Repeat ever since. Up at Number 4 is an Indie Pop New Discovery from Language of Flowers that leads us in to a Lovely Love Song from The Style Council (pictured below) which brings us to the end of our Top 5 of the Day.
So, go on and settle in, get comfortable, and let the Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day flow all around. And don’t worry, if you miss a day you can always catch up through the links above. Each days Songs are Added to the Spotify and YouTube Playlists (see the links above) for the Week, for your Listening, and Music Obsessing Pleasure.

Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day:
1. “Roses” :: Pete Yorn
“And the jasmine bloomed on Sunset Boulevard,
and we fell in love for the first time.“
My Favorite Track off of Pete Yorn’s Fantastic Album Arrangingtime, released last year. I’m hoping he plays this one tonight.
2. “West Coast” :: Coconut Records
“I wish you would have put yourself,
in my suitcase”
This Track always reminds me of the bittersweet sting of long-distance relationships.
3. “T-Shirt Weather” :: The Lucksmiths
“This afternoon in the pub I met her.
Maggie May on the juke-box,
hey, things are okay.
‘Just two things’ she tells me,
‘if you want to keep things friendly –
no beer for me, no peanuts, and I’ll be happy…
oh, and no football, well I guess that makes three‘.”
The sun isn’t out quite yet today, and the clouds seem to suggest a rare Southern California rain, but still this Song feels like it fits. Summer is just around the corner and I can feel it coming. What a Perfect almost-Summer Tune this is.
Also, I Love the “Maggie May” reference in the Song.
4. “If It’s Not You” :: Language Of Flowers
“I’ve heard it all a million times,
please take me back,
I miss you.
Still, you don’t seem to understand,
I’ve lost the will to kiss you.”
I Love the Feeling of this Song. I think it leads right in so Perfectly to the Last Track.
5. “You’re the Best Thing” :: The Style Council
“I could runaway,
but I’d rather stay,
in the warmth of your smile,
lighting up my day.”
Love and Springtime…can’t you Hear both in this Song?
A little bit of Weller to end this Top 5 of the Day. A little pre-cursor to Tomorrow’s Weller Wednesday.
