Are you ready for the Best Songs for the First Day of May? Here comes Monday’s Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day, for the First of May, ready and waiting for you to Press Play.
Today’s 5 are moving and somewhat ethereal Sounding, with weather and nature influences, Sonically emotive and ready to fill your day, and ears with Sounds, these Songs will make you both Feel and Move. So, what are you waiting for? Turn these 5 Songs Up-Up-Up.
Song 1 is an ode to life and love, and the way it all can compare with the weather and the world, from Richard Hawley. Another Richard, this time Ashcroft, comes in with “Running Away” for Song 2. A lesser known Blur Song is next, one that I have been digging lately, from the Album Think Tank. Echo & The Bunnymen’s Classic New Wave Gem, “Bedbugs and Ballyhoo”, takes Song 4 by storm. It has always been one of my Favorite Tracks of theirs. Primal Scream ends it all (well, for today anyway) with one of their Best Songs from their Quintessential Album, Screamadelica. This Last Track definitely requires that you Turn that Volume Up, so don’t hesitate.

TOP 5 MUSIC OBSESSIONS OF THE DAY:
1. “Just Like the Rain” :: Richard Hawley

This has always been my Favorite Richard Hawley Song. It feels both Cinematic and Road Trip ready to me. I can see Stories when I listen to the Song, tiny movies playing on the back of my eyelids as I close my eyes and Listen.
2. “Running Away” :: Richard Ashcroft
“Don’t drink me I’m like turpentine.
Make you blind,
burn your inside.
If I don’t know me,
then I don’t know you.
Can’t figure out what I’m supposed to do.”
I Love the Lyrics to this Song. And the Sound of the Song, too, it is so Beautiful. There is a dreamy quality here that takes me away with it. Another Song that makes me think of being on the road.
3. “Jets” :: Blur
“Jets are like comets at sunset.”
I can hear what would come next with the Gorillaz in this Song. Turn it Up and I bet you’ll be able to hear it, too.
4. “Bedbugs and Ballyhoo” :: Echo & The Bunnymen
“Down on your knees again.
Saying please again.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.“
This Song is definitely in the Top 5 Best Echo & The Bunnymen list. Love it.
5. “Shine Like Stars” :: Primal Scream
“To me you’re precious.
May you always,
shine like stars.”
I woke up this morning with this Song Singing in my head. I feel like it was in my dreams last night. Isn’t it such a beautiful Song?
