Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day :: 4/25/17
Tuesday comes in with an early morning, waking before the sun, Songs already spinning around waiting to be Played. This Tuesday’s Best Music is ready for you to Press Play to, Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day featuring some Must Hear Tracks that you will want to replay throughout the day. Whether through headphones, your car stereo, carefully placed speakers, or however you Listen, don’t forget to Turn up that Volume and Sing-A-Long.
Today’s Top 5 starts out with “Life Goes On” by The Damned, the first Song I heard this morning via a Spotify Discovery List (though this isn’t a new Tune to me). Song 2 is one of my Favorite Primal Scream (pictured above) Songs from their Quintessential Album, Screamadelica. It comes just in time for Brit Pop Tuesday. Next in line is a Jam Track that I woke up with in my head, “Running On the Spot” from the Album, The Gift. Number 4 from the Top 5 is an interesting Cover a Prince penned Song made popular by Cyndi Lauper in the 80’s, this Version performed by Lambchop. Top 5’s Track 5 is a Lovely Number from The Chills, the Song “Pink Frost”, which I think is the Perfect ending for Today’s Best Songs to Spin.

Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day:
1. “Life Goes On” :: The Damned
“But always remember,
this is the happiest day of your life.”
I recently watched a Music Documentary on The Damned with my boyfriend. It was an interesting tale of the band’s career, a look into the dynamics of the group, the personalities within, and the evolution of their Music. I always Love stories of Musical Artists.
2. “Damaged” :: Primal Scream
“Sweet summer days,
when I was feeling so fine
Just you and me girl,
was a beautiful time.”
There are other Songs from this Album (Screamadelica) that are synonomous with the Band and the early 90’s. As much as I Love those Tracks, it is some of the lesser known Tracks, like this one, that I have grown to Adore over the years. Lately, this is my Favorite from this Album. I can Listen to it over-and-over.
3. “Running On the Spot” :: The Jam
“Out in the pastures we call society,
you can’t see further than the bottom of your glass.”
My Love of Weller’s Music continues, as does my digging deep into his catalog. I believe this Track has already made an appearance on the Top 5 this month, but, I can’t help it, it had to come back again.
4. “When You Were Mine” :: Lambchop
when you were mine,
I used to let you wear all my clothes.
You were so fine.
Maybe that’s the reason that it hurt me so.”
I Love Cover Songs, especially ones who go a different way, interpreting the Song differently, and in turn, I end up interpreting the Song differently, as well. I often Hear different things I’d not noticed before, Feeling the Song in new ways. I stumbled on this Cover today and had to add it into the Top 5 for Today.
5. “Pink Frost” :: The Chills
“She won’t move,
and I’m holding her head.”
Another Song I stumbled on today. I keep hitting Replay. I keep Turning Up the Volume. You should, too.
