Need a Music Fix this Monday? Need a shot of some Epic Tunes to start another week? You’ve come to the right place because My Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day are ready made to get you through your Monday. It will require you turn up the volume of the nearest Music system you have, but that’s all you need to do. Easy, right?

Today’s Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day starts off with one of the Best Tracks off of the New Sleaford Mods’ Album, English Tapas. I had the pleasure of seeing Sleaford Mods (pictured above) play last night at the Echoplex (review on its way later today), and have had their Music in my head ever since. Song 2 is off of The Jam’s Quintessential Album, The Gift. I was in Need for a Song from The Jam this morning, to help me conquer my own Monday. “Clean, Clean” is up next, a Song from a band who is almost always only remembered for their Song about Radio Stars being murdered by Video, but trust me, they made a lot of other Great Songs. Clem Snide’s cover song “Beautiful” is Song 4, a Favorite Track of mine off of their EP entitled A Beautiful EP. The Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day, for today, come to a close with an ode To Mondays themselves, or the distaste thereof, with The Boomtown Rats’ classic, “I Don’t Like Mondays”. I know that many of you will be turning that one up, for sure.

You can click to listen to each video below, or choose the Spotify or YouTube link to listen to the My Top 5 Song Obsessions of the Day :: Top Five playlist. I add each five songs shared to both playlists each day, so they expand as the Month unfolds. Each Month will have its own ever-expanding Playlist, so if you missed a day, or a past week, its all there for your audio perusal.

My Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day:

1. “Moptop” :: Sleaford Mods

These pleasantries and intelligence are no real match for the spoon and tuppence,
of ale stops and tired minds.”

We went to see Sleaford Mods last night at the Echoplex. I was blown away. They are exponentially better live, but I enjoy the recorded Music, too. This one has been stuck in my head since the show. Turn this one up Loud…it’s a Must.

2. “Running on the Spot” :: The Jam

Intelligence should be our first weapon.”

Weller’s songwriting never ceases to amaze me, especially in the way it withstands, hold’s up, and remains relevant still – even in a song from a 1982 Jam Album.

3. “Clean, Clean” :: The Buggles

“I’m gonna take a ride,
gonna pick up the team,
gonna go where we’ve never been.”

My Favorite Track off of The Age of Plastic Album. This one always makes me want to dance – dance like its 1980 – in all its glory.

4. “Beautiful” :: Clem Snide

I am beautiful,
no matter what they say –
words can’t bring me down.”

I love an unexpected Cover Song, and this one is certainly unexpected. Hearing Clem cover Christina Aguilera, when I discovered the Song via Spotify’s “Discover Weekly” Playlist, made me smile, and become Song Obsessed with it.

5. “I Don’t Like Mondays” :: The Boomtown Rats

“And he can see no reason,
’cause there are no reasons –
what reason do you need to be sure?

Hearing this on 8-Track reminded me how much I Love the Song, and the Album, The Fine Art of Surfacing. Also, I couldn’t resist. It is Monday, after all, and I’m already missing the weekend.

So, did the Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day help your Monday, at least a little bit? Did you turn up the volume to Loud? I hope you did, and sang-a-long to at least one song, and hey, if you danced too, then we all win. See you here tomorrow, same place, five different Epic Songs.
