Listen here on Spotify
Friday! Let’s dance!.
Here’s Friday’s batch of Top 5 Song Obsessions of the Day.
You can click to listen to each video below, or choose the Spotify link to listen to the My Top 5 Song Obsessions of the Day :: Top Five playlist. I will add each five songs shared to the playlist each day.
1. “Ooh La La” :: Goldfrapp
“Dial up my number now,
weaving it through the wire.
Switch me on,
turn me up.”
The wind up for the weekend kind of song – with that slow build to the chorus. Best when played loudly.
2. “Daft Punk is Playing at My House” :: LCD Soundsystem
“I bought fifteen cases for my house,
my house.
All the furniture is in the garage.
Well, daft punk is playing at my house,
my house
You got to set them up kid,
set them up.”
Another build up song for a song about setting up a party, as we all get ready for the weekend. Bring it on, Friday…bring it on.
3. “Cosmic Dancer” (live) :: T-Rex
“Is it wrong to understand,
the fear that dwells inside a man?”
I’ve been on a T-Rex kick this week. Every time I think I have a favorite song, I happen on to another I love. Today, its this one. I love the dreamy quality to it, the way it floats and soars, and the way the lyrics keep bringing it back. I feel like it speaks to the way I feel about music; how its been a part of me since birth. Probably since before birth, really. I cannot imagine my life without music in it, and without loving music the way that I do.
4. “I Turn My Camera On” :: Spoon
“When I turn my feelings on,
I turn my feelings on inside.
Feel like I’m gonna ignite.”
Sometimes I forget how much I love Spoon. Here’s a nice reminder.
5. “Non-Stop Dancing” :: The Jam
“Non-stop dancing,
truly out on the floor.
Non-stop moving,
baby, baby,
still you scream out for more.”
Cheers to a good Friday, may it be filled with non-stop dancing, or at least non-stop music (played loud).
Friday’s gear up for the weekend My Top Five Song Obsessions of the Day started with some Goldfrapp building it up and taking us there. From there we turned on some LCD Soundsystem to help them get ready for Daft Punk’s arrival (in my house, my house). T. Rex cosmically cooled us down just in time for Spoon to turn us back up, and for The Jam to take us to the end, and ready us for something non-stop.
What are you listening to this Friday?
