My Top 5 Music Obsessions of the Day :: 2/8/17
Listen here on Spotify

Is it Wednesday already? Time for a new set of Top 5 Song Obsessions of the Day.

You can click to listen to each video below, or choose the Spotify link to listen to the My Top 5 Song Obsessions of the Day :: Top Five playlist. I will add each five songs shared to the playlist each day.

1. “Lonely Press Play” :: Damon Albarn

“‘Cause you’re not resolved in your heart.
You’re waiting for me,
to improve –
right here;
when I’m lonely I press play.”

Music as company, as companion, as a constant. At every emotional level I tend to press play.

2. “The Pageant of the Bizarre” :: Zero 7

“It’s never gonna be normal,
you and me.”

What is normal anyway? The concept is terribly overrated, and just that anyway — a concept, not anything near to reality. Cheers to not being normal, at all.

3. “Spring to Kingdom Come” :: Flunk

“I´m waiting for spring to come to my kingdom.”

I’d forgotten about Flunk until Pandora radio reminded me this morning. I feel a deep dive into their catalog coming on strong. This is gorgeous.

4. “One Time” :: Marian Hill

“Boy if you wanna go I would not mind,
but I’m not the kind of drum you play one time.”

Catchy, so catchy. Every tie I hit play I dig this song just that much more. Try it…I bet you feel the same.

5. “Lips Like Sugar” :: Echo & The Bunnymen

“You’ll flow down her river,
she’ll ask you,
and you’ll give her –
lips like sugar,
sugar kisses.”

Isn’t kissing the best?

That’s it for this Wednesday’s My Top Five Song Obsessions of the Day. We started with an electronic ode to music as antidote to loneliness with Damon Albarn, then on to Zero 7 questioning normalcy in relationships, on from there to a taste of my rediscovery of Flunk. Then it was Marian Hill’s catchy, addictive “One Time” which led us to a kiss at the end with Echo & The Bunnymen’s “Lips Like Sugar”.
