Keep Art Alive :: Photo by *Nishe on Flickr
“We’re just two lost souls,
swimming in a fish bowl,
year after year.”
road-wave
by me
driving past the hurricane’s eye
its downpour leaving spidery-cracks
in the windscreen view
an upside down smile
and her badly timed words
paint across the inside glass
etched in this obscured view
the miles they tick and they tally
disappearing into that space between stations
inside the crackle of a badly tuned radio
she’s seeking an asphalt’s refuge
stuffing pockets full of sugar-free souvenirs
at this last stop for gasoline
drowning in this second skin
