Love is stronger, stronger than fear :: SOTD

“You say you’ve never been loved,
oh, that’s not how you’re put together.
You know one day you’ll have enough,
and maybe next time I’ll know better.”

by me

Never ever sits on the curb
relishing in the lack
this vacant lot she calls home
with its promise of no regrets

Love is for the weak
for children
for outgrown holidays

Yet she sketches his hands
with the tiniest of details
memorized lines that spell out
futures unrealized

But no, no never ever
this is nothing but split seconds
collapsing into the ether
into this gasp of soon forgotten

But the pages still fill
with gold flecked eyes
watercolored blue denim
and the soft reminder of borrowed flannel

This is stronger than
any red-lip-kissed forever
stronger than never
