Keaton Simons :: Keep Art Alive :: 10 Questions Project

1. What music (or other art form) inspires you when you create your art?

I find inspiration in a wide range of music.
Sometimes I tailor what I’m listening to to inspire something specific.
Sometimes I listen to be inspired.
I find at least as much if not more inspiration thru other means, outside of music.
2. Long distance road trip: what three people do you invite along (fictional or non-fictional, dead or alive)?

Andy Samberg
Jay Mohr
Jimi Hendrix
3. What is your favorite breakfast cereal?

I love Super Healthy cereals. Used to be a Kashi guy.
My tastes in cereal changes a lot.
Capn Crunch is my fav sugary bad-4-U cereal.
It shreds the roof of your mouth as we all know, but it’s worth it from time to time.

4. What is one thing that is hanging on your bedroom wall?

An authentic cell from YELLOW SUBMARINE.

5. What smell/scent evokes strong memories for you?

The Tropics.
Humidity in the air.
Memories of shooting a TV movie in Tahiti as a child.
6. Coffee or tea?

These days coffee, but both.
7. What has been the most impactful compliment, or criticism, you have ever received?
People have told me that my music has saved their life.
Doesn’t get any better than that.
8. Three words that describe you?

I don’t know.
9. What is/was your cartoon character crush?

If Muppets count, Miss Piggy
10. The world is ending in ten minutes and you get to listen to one, and only one, song: Which song?

My most recent recording.

When I Go

I discovered Keaton Simons at a Tony Lucca show, during Tony’s Paint a Picture tour (see review here) and I’ve been a fan ever since.  Keaton’s music is bluesy, emotional and genuine in that raw and real kind of way that I connect to.

Keaton playing live is by far the best way to experience his music. He’s not only a great singer-songwriter, but he’s one hell of a guitarist, too.

When I Go (live)

If you get a chance to catch a Keaton show, do it! Upcoming dates here. If you are in the Los Angeles/Orange County area, come join me on July 20, at the Hotel Cafe.

Here’s one more song of Keaton’s…my first favorite:

Beautiful Pain
