Now Hear This :: All For One :: The Stone Roses

It’s a mighty fine day when a new song from The Stone Roses hits my ears. I’ve been swirling around in audio-nostalgia a lot lately, taking a visit to my aural fixations in the very late 80’s/early 90’s, and the Roses were definitely in that replay-fest.

“If we all join hands,
we’ll make a wall.”

There is much of the same spirit in this song that made up their debut album (self-titled) and especially their second album, Second Coming. I hear a lot of “Love Spreads” in this, peppered with some early-ness circa “Made of Stone” and “(Song For My) Sugar Spun Sister”, giving it that layered, electo sound powered up by some heavy guitar.

The song debuted on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show today. “All For One” was recorded at Church Studios in London and produced by Paul Epworth.

Earlier this week a series of mysterious lemon adverts were displayed on billboards around the band’s hometown of Manchester. The iconic logo appeared on digital advertising boards around Manchester city centre on Tuesday morning (May 10) echoing a tactic first employed last year when the band announced a run of live gigs.

Oh how I wish I could have seen these, and taken pictures of them.

Also, oh my stars how I miss Manchester. I need to get back there someday…I really do.

What do you think of the new song?
