Reality Bites :: MOTD

Reality Bites (1994)

“All right, fine. You wanna be in a band? Fine. Go ahead. Play every night. Play three times a night! Don’t just dick around the same coffee house for five years. Don’t dick around with her or with me. I mean, try at something for once in your life. Do something about it, but you know what? You better do it now, and you better do it fast, because the world doesn’t owe you any favors.” ~ Lelaina

I’m having a Reality Bites/Laney Pierce kind of day. Seriously, I woke up with a scene from the film running through my brain and all I really wanted to do was crawl back into bed, slip my copy of the movie in, and watch it — on repeat.

I’m having to “adult” so hard right now, in all aspects of my life, that I’d really like to travel back to 1994, be twenty-five again, renting a small apartment, smoking too much, drinking bad coffee way, way too late, and rocking Laney’s 90’s hair.

But, life prevails, and I had to get up and off to work, so the best I can do is make it the “movie of the day”, shut my office door and play the soundtrack — loudly — and sneak a few scenes in, too.

And, well, wish I was making out with Troy Dyer.

You see, Lainie, this is all we need. . .couple of smokes, a cup of coffee. . .and a little bit of conversation. You and me and five bucks.” ~ Troy Dyer

“You and me and five bucks.”
