Keep Art Alive :: Photo by Erwin Blumenfeld

“I sank into the sea,
wrapped in piano string.
Few words could open me,
but you knew them all.”

strings
by me

we unravel a thousand strings
careful in our attempt to not break
tangles the result of times gone past
each knot freed a new direction

some threads cut the skin
leaving marks as memory
story shaped scars
with no names

we whisper them
in the stillness
of another night’s end
untying and tying together

we unravel a thousand feelings
careful in our attempt to be heard
confessions spill into each open hand
each one caught and then let go

until we wrap ourselves in all of it
again as before
