Blame it on the falling sky :: SOTD

Keep Art Alive :: “Classic Girl” :: Art by Thomas Saliot

“The troubled words of a troubled mind,
I try to understand what is eating you.
I try to stay awake,
but its 58 hours since that I last slept with you.
What are we coming to?
I just don’t know anymore.”

by me

we inch closer to the center
each step heavy laden with conscious consequence
and a sky full of what this could have been
yet in one blink between a long-lost stare
we fall into this catastrophe

you blame the dark clouds in your eyes
and the unfathomable space between the here and now
as I light sparklers and rocket ships
throwing wishes into the center of a midnight sky
calling you to come back home to me

we take three steps in the opposite direction
sword and loaded pistol drawn and at the ready
because fear is all we will feel now
it’s what you summoned with all these lies
of who we were never meant to be

I run towards the beckoning morning sun
and the unreachable place hidden in-between my ribs
as you send everyone but me an explanation
cursing the water as it fills up your lungs
even though it was you who jumped in

maybe this is really over
maybe that’s all it ever can be
but it could have been something so fucking beautiful
before you wrote this all into a failure
before you blamed love for nothing at all
