“I’d go the whole wide world.”

without a map
by me

these distances between us
unfold and collapse
across a furious ocean
and a volley of stay with me’s

two living for the trading of words
touching through time
as we collide in the ether
into a never ending wish of there and here

some days it feels impossible
the weight of all this waiting
marking dates off as time ticks by
praying for the speeding up of days

and some nights we give in
to the reality of living in empty spaces
somewhere well beyond now
constricting the simple intake of breath

but I’d travel this crazy world
each mile tearing holes in the bottom of my shoes
exhaustion becoming my best second nature
if in the end I can collapse into you
