Well I wait in line,
so I can wait some more,
’til I can’t remember what I came here for,
but I can’t leave now,
cause I’ve a light that shines,
and a love so pure,
but I don’t know what to use them for.
I should know by now

by me

Late afternoon rain washes these sidewalks clean
dampening the strands of my dyed hair
this unexpected downpour will stain my skin
black tears falling down

And I’m here waiting
like you knew I would
clutching a handful of stolen seashells
and something like a promise

A young girl stopped me on my way up this block
blank eyes asking which way is North
I stared back at her with an unanswered reply
because you took my compass years before

No matter what we both say
all the midnight improvisations of lovers and friends
the early morning whispered goodbyes
none of it matters anymore

This city is nothing when we aren’t together

So here I stand
drenched in everything but indecision
because I’m yours now
I guess I always was

You should know by now

  1. May I use your photograph of the people whispering in the heading of my Facrbook Page? It will be a page about theatre history and anecdotes.
