Keep Art Alive :: “Humming” :: Art by Sarah Joncas
“In the early dawn,
with your heavy bend,
and your careless heart;
Where you been?”
Sunrise
by me
Mornings hit the hardest lately,
the pain radiating from a haze of dreaming,
into the stretch and pull of a brand new day.
Sometimes the fear collapses,
bruising my bones from the weight of it all,
choice and consequence a one true pair.
Memory leaves behind stains on the mattress,
my psyche covering up in kohl black lines and red vine kisses,
within the confines of an hour I will all but disappear.
I’ve just grown tired,
so wrecked and wired;
Oh my darling, what am I still doing here?
