Brandon Flowers is such an underrated vocalist. And his lyrics are quite poetic. My favorite version of this has to be the “Like Rebel Diamonds Mix”

One of my favorite songs ever & I love that BF’s recognizes it’s the “best song” he’s “ever written”. The lyrics are like magic, chance, hope, romance, all mixed up and honest and I love it.
The lyrics are magical in all those ways you said, poetic and timeless. It is one of my all-time favorite songs, too.
