Editor’s Note :: To honor both my heart and my history, I am defining “lover” as those I have had and shared romantic love with, not just someone I had sex with, as that seems limiting, and I want everything I post in this space to be anything but limiting, and to be true reflections of who I am. To protect the innocent and the guilty alike, and to maintain my privacy, no names will be used, just a brief description. Also, in chronological order, for the most part.

1. Love is Love :: Culture Club
The First Love

“Love is love is nothing without you,
love is love is everything you do.”

never quite managed the words to explain to you,
never quite knew how to make them believable,
and now the time has gone,
another time undone.”

The one I settled for instead

“Girls you’ve got to know when it’s time to turn the page,

20. (I’d Like to) Volunteer, Please :: Dramarama
The one I would marry the second time, who would be the other one to break my heart, and make me a widow

“She hadn’t looked so sad,
think of all we had,

now I’m trying to get back.”

  1. Another list I also want to do! I wish I had the commitment you have to putting these things together. I can manage one every other month or so and then I can’t seem to sit down and do it. (If I was a psychiatrist I’d say it had something to do with facing the feelings making the list represents and how I’ve probably repressed everything I’ve ever felt BUT I’M NOT A PSYCHIATRIST so I must be fine!)

Also I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you have been a part of my life for so long now that I can remember so many of these stories. I LOVE YOU <3

    1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU and that we have been in each other’s lives for so long. Let’s be in each other’s lives forever, okay?

I think sometimes I commit because it is something that I can control, or feel comfort in the routine of. It helps a lot when I’m going through chaotic times and change and emotional turmoil, you know? If I was a psychiatrist I’d say it was control issues stemmed from anxiety issues, but I’m not one either (though I have been told such in therapy).

All that said, I do hope you do this list. I would love to see it/hear it.

I still have a mix you once made where you wrote out the significance of each song. I LOVE IT so much.

      1. I have a long meeting/conference call this afternoon where I basically just have to be on the phone and say “uh huh okay” every once and awhile. I’m going to try to start working on my list during that.

Also I plan on starting a real blog soon. I’m going to buy and try to start writing things here and there. 🙂

I am already your fan and it hasn’t even started yet. I’m so fucking excited about this!!! I can’t even describe how excited!!!

    1. Love the music and the memories. Love is a wonderful part of life and looking back.

I love the list books! I want to get some of the others!

      Thanks for the comment.
