Keep Art Alive :: Art by Kelly Vivanco
“Remember the time you drove all night,
just to meet me in the morning?
And I thought it was strange,
you said everything changed,
you felt as if you’d just woke up.”
Footprints left in the newly fallen snow as we took those first careful steps side-by-side, together, but not an us just yet. Our words turned to steam in the air, connecting us, heat like some kind of electric reverb, making us blind and carelessly reborn. Phone lines and Route 66 stretched out between us as we said those words for the first time, wishing on stardust and moonbeams and poetry refrains.
We were so much better at a distance, with music and that blurred vision of “meant to be” to keep us warm at night.
All that said, I will never forget any of it.
