I find myself in poetry
some of it with love still lingering
some cruel enough to make me bleed
I lose myself in poetry
some of it with desire still simmering
some angry enough to set me free
I find myself in music
some of it with regret filled lyrics
some beautiful enough to make me cry
I lose myself in music
some of it with love filled refrains
some sad enough to break me in two
I find myself in secrets
some of them kept only with me
some confessed only to my chosen few
I lose myself in secrets
some of them hidden in the dark
some silenced by internal pain
You find me in poetry
in music
in your memories
but the secret is you never really found me at all
the secret is you only saw what you wanted to see
the secret is you only knew how to lose me
