Jenny Lewis :: Now Hear This

now-hear-thisJenny Lewis always seems to bring around new music just when I need it, whether with her work with Rilo Kiley, or her collaborations with The Watson Twins or Johnathan Rice, or even with Postal Service. Her raw and real take on Los Angeles, relationships, love, friendship, ambition, sex, and life resonates deeply with me. I’m a sucker for the kind of jaded optimism that Jenny serves up, and I am anxiously awaiting her new album which was produced by another favorite singer-songwriter-musician of mine, Ryan Adams.

Just One of the Guys is another Summer feeling track, one that I’ve already slipped into my Summertime rotation. There is a Seventies singer-songwriter, Laurel Canyon sensibility to it, mixed and stirred up with an alt-country/folk vibe with an electro-reverberation layered into the chorus, all of which does wonders with Jenny’s lyrics and vocals. I am already so head over heels for this song.
